An Effortless and Easy Body Care Routine for Smoother Skin
Here’s a tip for better skin: don’t neglect your body and the skin below your chin!
While we are more focused on caring for our skin and face, the skin on the rest of our body suffers when we don’t give equal daily attention and care.
Believe it or not – caring for your body is just as important as protecting your skin from harmful toxins and combating skin issues like flakiness, pimples and sagginess. The skin below our face is just as reactive and critical – thus, it is prudent and advisable to adopt a daily body care routine.
Treat your body to some pampering every day with our easy body care routine!
1. Apply Body Sunscreen Daily
You’ve heard it all before – that sunscreen should be worn in rain and shine. This rule applies to body care as well.
The skin on other parts of our bodies besides the face are also prone to sun damage. Without proper coverage, the harmful UV rays could cause pigmentation and strip your skin of its natural oils and moisture. Sun damage could cause your skin to get dry and itchy.
Apply a body sunscreen of at least SPF45 before leaving your home daily.
2. Avoid Hot Showers
Like sun damage, hot showers could dehydrate your skin and lead to rashes. Hot showers could remove the natural moisture and oils from the pores in your body.
Even though hot showers may be a relaxing way to end a long day, try to avoid having them too often.
Instead, shower with lukewarm or cold water.
3. Use Gentle Soaps or Soap-Free Cleansers
Some soaps might be too harsh on your skin. In worst cases, the wrong body cleansers could even dry out your skin by removing good bacteria and moisture.
Thus, choose body cleansers that use little or no soap to preserve your body’s natural oil and useful bacteria.
4. Exfoliate Once a Week
Exfoliation is a great way to remove dead skin cells and grime from your body. Choose a body exfoliator that is gentle but still does the job. Exfoliate once a week to unveil smoother and brighter skin. Remember to be gentle to avoid irritating your skin!
5. Pat don’t rub
After your shower, use a soft towel and pat your skin dry.
Avoid rubbing your skin as it could cause inflammation, irritation and redness. Furthermore, excess tugging could cause your skin to sag and lose its elasticity.
6. Moisturize Daily
This step is key to ensuring that your skin feels smooth and bouncy. Moisturizing your body daily ensures that your skin looks healthy, soft and supple.
After your shower, freshen up and restore the moisture in your body with a body moisturizer.
7. Sleep on Silk or Satin
Did you know that your bed sheets could also affect your face and body?
Some materials might be harsh on the skin and cause irritation and inflammation. Thus, opt for satin or silk bedsheets and pillowcases – these materials are gentle, soft and do not trap heat. Instead, they are comfy and light on the skin.
8. Go for Body Massages
Like face massages, body massages are a great way to relieve tension, boost blood circulation, repair damaged muscle tissues and tighten your skin! Regular massages promote blood circulation and relieve the body of injuries and fatigue. Your skin will feel softer and your body will feel more alive and less tensed after every massage.
